Substance Architecture is honored to play a leading role in the 2025 AIA South Dakota Annual Conference. Associate Principals Joshua Hemberger, AIA, LEED AP, and Leah Rudolphi, AIA, will deliver the keynote address, An Evolving Practice: Substance Architecture, during the conference’s opening session on Thursday, September 11. Their presentation will highlight the firm’s 20-year journey, the process of leadership transition, and the ways our collaborative design approach continues to grow with a focus on sustainability, well-being, and design excellence.
In addition, Joshua and Leah will serve as jury co-chairs for the Celebration of Architecture & Design Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, September 10, joining 2026 AIA President Illya Azaroff, FAIA, in recognizing projects that represent design excellence across South Dakota.
