Harison Pitchford spent three years after high school working various jobs in the construction industry. The first year was spent in Christchurch, New Zealand helping repair damage caused by the 2011 earthquake followed by two years of residential construction in Kansas City. This diverse building experience has given Harison invaluable knowledge of the building process and a deeply rooted belief in the power of the built environment to elevate the wellbeing of individuals and communities alike. At substance, one of Harison’s favorite parts of practicing architecture is making thoughtfully designed spaces accessible to a wide variety of users. He takes satisfaction in the problem-solving aspect of design, being able to turn a big idea into a completed project that effectively matches that overarching goal. Harison’s construction background and understanding of building tectonics has given him a deep understanding of the entire process of architecture, from an initial idea to a completed work.
