Iowa State University Olsen Olympic Sports Facility

Ames, Iowa

The Olsen Olympic Sports Facility replaces and centralizes the existing Olympic Sports training facilities located at various locations around the Iowa State University campus. It is located in the lower level of the Stark Performance Center in the State Center Complex, adjacent Jack Trice Football Stadium, Hilton Coliseum, and the Bergstrom Indoor Field.

The facility houses strength and conditioning facilities, athletic training and sports medicine including hydrotherapy, indoor batting cages, equipment storage, laundry services, and locker rooms for golf, soccer, tennis, and softball athletes. Locker room spaces are designed specifically for maximum durability and flexibility, with intent that users and rosters may change over time.

The spaces are all organized around a single circulation aisle, providing clear and simple connections between the different aspects of the athlete’s training requirements. This central circulation aisle features deliberate vertical circulation at both the center and at each end, providing easy access to various other amenities provided by the Stark Performance Center Complex.
