Housed in a mixed-use structure and inserted between two storefronts, this 2000 square foot Optical required a design solution that allowed entry and visibility from both sides of the existing building.
A simple diagram organizes the interior spaces lengthwise into two bays [public + private]. Located between two [public] entry storefronts, an open reception area lined with an illuminated reclaimed wood wall used to display eyewear allows views and daylight directly through the space. Exam rooms, [private] offices, and adjacent support spaces are separated by a folding white gallery wall. Custom steel and wood millwork, on axis with the entry, rigorously follow the module of the support spaces and the 250 custom reclaimed wood display shelves.
